"People" Foods Are Fatal For Your Dog

Typically, dog owners love their dogs and will not do anything harmful such as feeding them with the inappropriate dog foods. Nevertheless, because of the ignorance of most people, they will sometimes give their dogs "people" food. They assume that since humans are safe to eat these foods, so does their dogs.

It is not a matter if you seldom or often give your dog "people" food to eat; these "people" foods are still unsafe. They are fatal to your dog's health.

You should always feed your dog carefully. Verify that the food you are giving him is safe from any toxins. You can achieve this by reading the dog food labels.

Here are some of the things to watch out for when we are dealing with "people" or table foods:

- Acidic foods are bad for your dog and should not be offered to him. Acidic foods can destroy his GI track and eventually result in illnesses such as panting, restlessness, vomiting and panting.

- Grapes may result in the kidney failure of your dog, so make sure you don't feed him this fruit.

- Onions are also extremely poisonous to your dog as they affect the balance of red blood cells in the dog's body.

- Coffee will elevate your dog's heart rate; can lead to anything from seizures, to GI track difficulties.

- The second most common cause of canine poisoning in the world today is ibuprofen. Dogs love the smell of this drug and will do anything to get at it if a bottle is around the house and not securely locked away.

- Most dog owners have, at some point in time, given their dogs chocolate. Chocolate contains caffeine which can increase their heart rate, which will in turn lead to seizures.

- The world leader in canine poisoning is rat poison. Always take extra caution when placing rat traps around the house so that your dog will not be able to reach them.

You should give your dog the proper dog foods if you want him to be healthy. Don't feed him "people" foods. Select only high quality, nutritional dog foods. If you have any doubt regarding the types of foods to feed your dog, consult with your veterinarian. Don't just select any food.
