A few Simple Ways Preparing Yourself For Archery Competitions.

By: Paul Wong

1. Practice with your buddies including your competitors. Have you noticed that in Tennis DOUBLES, a lot of the DOUBLES teammate (of different geographical background) do train together, and they may eventually still compete against each other in the SINGLES? Therefore, train with the best so that you can horn your skills with each other. Of course, in training together, both parties can understand from each other and also about each other's strengths and weaknesses, which is a price to pay. If you are not the better (or best), you stand to benefit significantly. If you are the best, it will give you a morale boost.

2. Master the art of visualization, as this is the key. Archery is not a game against the clock. Use visualization extensively in training so that it can be easily adopted during competition. Hence when you are in competition, you can quickly engage the visualization skills you have been acquired during training and employ the techniques under competition situations.

3. Aim to win, pardon the pun. This should be the only thing driving you, not just in the tournament proper but also during practice. Of course we all want to enjoy ourselves during practice but draw a line between leisure and real training. Also, during competition, even if you have been placed last and have not won, maintain always an attitude for winning. Leave the competition feeling like a winner. This will see you desire for the real win. Always remember that there will always be a champion even if there are a million participants. Strive to be that champion.
