Pilates has become one of the most popular ways of exercise. There are around 9 million people in the U.S. that participate in some form of Pilates and that number is rapidly growing each year. A report released by the U.S. Department of Labor predicts that career opportunities in the fitness market will grow faster than any other market, at least until 2012. If you're searching for a lasting career, Pilates may be the perfect choice. There are many facilities across the U.S that offer classes for Pilates certification. You can find studios in New York, Florida and California, as well as many other states. Pilates certification can generally be divided into two areas, mat instruction and comprehensive instruction. Classes to become certified in mat instruction are often given at health clubs. The classes are usually completed over the period of two weekends, but more intensive classes will be done in one weekend. The fees for these courses will vary, but normally run from $100 to several hundred dollars. The comprehensive training is a more elaborate undertaking. It usually takes a minimum of one year and can take even longer. Basic anatomy and psychology courses must be completed and you will need to serve as a teacher apprentice for a required number of hours. In order to even enrol at most facilities, you need to have already completed one year of Pilates training and attended a certain number of private classes. Earning a certificate in comprehensive training will cost several thousands of dollars. There are also courses for specialized areas of Pilates such as rehabilitation and sports Pilates. The comprehensive training will enable you to become a teacher, training other students. If you happen to live in an area where you don't have access to Pilates training, you may want to receive Pilates certification online. There's a variety of places available and many with fee's beginning as low as $50.
