It's not unfair to say that the iPhone caused a bit of a stir in the world of mobile phones. One of the first companies to strike back against it was Samsung, and now they're on the offensive again, with the stunning, powerful, F480 Tocco. How the Apple iPhone changed the world of touchscreen mobile phones Unleashed on the UK in November 2007, the iPhone put the frighteners up the world of mobile phones before its release. The pre-release buzz was, to be honest, unbelievable and everyone seemed interested by this new mobile phone that would change the way we used mobile phones (if you bought into Apple's hype). So scared were the other mobile makers, that they instantly started to come up with ways they could make their own touchscreen phones that could compete. But then, two things occured: 1/ the iPhone came out, and not many people in the UK bought one because it was ludicrously expensive, and 2/ its spec list (despite being built on OSX and giving fanboys paroxysms of joy for months) was, basically, rubbish. The odd thing was, though... that didn't stop them developing mobile phones that were essentially direct competition for the iPhone. Phones like the LG Viewty, the Samsung F700 and the soon to be announced Nokia 5800 Tube, all touchscreen-powered, with full finger-control menus. They're out to steal back the market share the iPhone's stolen from them, and outdo it, in terms of features, ease of use, and sexiness... and one of the biggest players in this game, one of the companies who have REALLY gone after Apple big time, is Samsung, with a huge range of touchscreen mobile phones either available or on the way. The latest, and arguably the nicest is the whole new, and frighteningly gorgeous, Samsung F480 Tocco... Samsung F480 - a touch of genius There's really no faulting the features on the Samsung F480, because, while it comes in a super-slim body, it's packed to the gills with cool features. There are an increasing number of 5 megapixel camera phones out there, and the Samsung F480 joins their ranks, with a beautiful camera, that makes snapping amazingly sharp, pretty pics wherever you are a complete breeze! You also get a superb music player and internet access at broadband speeds, which is really rather fast, however you slice it! The best bit of this Samsung beauty, though, is the interface, which is both wonderfully easy to use, and dazzlingly complex at the same moment. It's complex in that it's programmed in a great way, so that it reacts with cute animations when you prod the screen, to, for instance, switch from the main menu to the games. It really does take on the iPhone, and beat it at its own game! Combine that with the fact that you can use Widgets no the main home screen, and drag them about to anywhere you want on the screen, with accompanying animations each time you move them. It lets you take personalisaton of this beautiful Samsung to a new level, and suffice to say, they've made one of the nicest mobile phones you'll ever see!
